Dave Aldrich Obituary, Death – On January 10, 2023, the world said farewell to a remarkable individual, David Walter Aldrich, lovingly known as Dave. He passed away peacefully at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington, North Carolina, at the age of 84. Dave’s life was a tapestry woven with cherished memories and meaningful connections. Dave was born on May 11, 1938, near Tucson, Arizona. His parents, Dorothy and Walter, were the proprietors of El Rancho Robles, a Dude Ranch in the nearby area. In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his step-father, James N. Aldrich, and a younger brother, Rodney William, who passed away in 2021.
Throughout his life, Dave held steadfast to the bonds of friendship. From his Lake Bluff Grade School days in Milwaukee to the present, he maintained close relationships with John Krueger, Don Nelligan, Russ Mueller, and Dean Gage. Their annual summer gatherings were a testament to the enduring nature of their friendship. In a remarkable adventure, they once rented an RV and journeyed to Alaska for a fishing expedition, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Dave’s educational journey was equally impressive. He graduated from Shorewood High School in Milwaukee in 1956 and continued his studies at Colgate University, where he earned his degree in Mathematics in 1960. A gap year in Germany with his friend Johnny added an exciting chapter to his life. Over the next six years, Dave pursued his academic passions at Purdue University, culminating in a BS in Industrial Engineering, an MS, and his PhD coursework.
To honor the life of David Walter Aldrich, a memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 26, at 2 pm at the Twin Lakes May-Foley Chapel in Burlington, North Carolina. This gathering will provide an opportunity for friends and loved ones to come together and celebrate the life of a man who touched so many. Dave’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His enduring friendships, academic achievements, and the warmth he shared with others are a testament to a life well-lived.
