Eleanor Wasson Death, Obituary – A Celebration of Life service to honor the remarkable journey of Eleanor Wasson Fielder, a cherished member of our community, will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Leland. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in commemorating her life. A visitation period will precede the service, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the church. We come together with heavy hearts to remember a life well-lived and to find solace in our shared memories.
Eleanor, born on June 3, 1927, in Attala County, left an indelible mark on the lives she touched. Her journey through life was a testament to her strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit. At a young age, she embarked on her educational journey at French Camp School and later graduated from Greenville High School after moving to the area. Her love story with Fred Fielder of Greenville led to a loving marriage, and together, they built their home in Leland.
Eleanor and Fred shared a passion for community service and entrepreneurship. Their dedication to the community was evident through their ownership of Blue and Gold Grocery and Sunflower Food Store in Leland. The legacy of their hard work and commitment to the community is still felt today. Eleanor’s love for floristry led her to co-found Deer Creek Flower Shop, where her creativity bloomed alongside the beautiful arrangements she crafted.
Eleanor’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, exemplified by her membership in First Baptist Church of Leland for over sixty years. Her commitment to her faith and community resonated throughout her journey.
Eleanor’s memory will be forever cherished by her loved ones, friends, and community members. Though she may have departed from our physical presence, her spirit and the impact she had on our lives will live on.
As we gather to celebrate Eleanor’s life, let us reflect on the love, joy, and inspiration she brought to our lives. Her legacy will continue to inspire us as we carry her memory forward.
