Garrett Dotger Obituary, Death – Dorothy Ross GarrettLaurens, often known as “Dot”Dorothy Ross “Dot” Garrett, age 93, died away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at the Hospice House of Laurens County. She resided at 302 Wardlaw Road and was the widow of the late Elford Zedak Garrett.She was the daughter of the late Edward Wilders and Lula Vick Ross and was born in the city of Magnolia, Alabama. Southern Bell Telephone Co. and Ben Franklin Inc. both forced him into retirement.

Dot was a committed member of the First Baptist Church in Laurens, where she served in many capacities, including as the Director of the Children’s Division for a period of forty years, as a member of the WMU Leadership Team and as the Church Missions Coordinator, as the leader of a prayer group and the director of a prayer chain, as the leader of the homebound ministry, and as the leader of both the GA’s and the Acteen’s. Since the Laurens County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary was founded in October of 1989, she has been a member of the organization.

From 1998 to 2015, she served on the Laurens County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Board in the role of Scheduling Coordinator. She has volunteered for more than 15,000 hours to this day, earning her the title of Volunteer of the Year in 2014.Dot is survived by her children, Connie M. Garrett of Charlotte, NC, Randy E. Garrett of Laurens, and Bobby L. Garrett of Hendersonville, NC; her grandchildren, Dawn C. Miller and her husband Ryan of Ponchatoula, LA, and Miranda G. Langston and her husband Alan of Laurens; her great grandson, Cason Langston; and a large number of loving nieces and nephews.

Her husband, both of her parents, all 13 of her siblings, and herself all passed away before she did, making her the last surviving member of her immediate family.On Thursday, November 15, 2018, at eleven in the morning, funeral services will be performed at the First Baptist Church of Laurens, and interment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery.On Wednesday, November 14, 2018, the family will greet visitors at the household beginning at 10:00 am and continuing until 6:00 pm. Prior to the funeral ceremony on Thursday, the family will also receive guests at the church from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
