Jackie Andrew Franklin Obituary, In Loving Memory of Jackie Andrew Franklin

Jackie Andrew Franklin Death, Obituary – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jackie Andrew Franklin, aged 64, of Cadiz, Kentucky. On Thursday, August 31, 2023, Jackie found peace at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, surrounded by the love of his family and the memories of a life well-lived.

Born on August 19, 1959, in Cadiz, Kentucky, Jackie was the beloved son of the late M.V. Franklin and the late Alice Aldridge Franklin. He embarked on a journey of education that led him to graduate from Trigg County High School in 1977. His thirst for knowledge then took him to Murray State University, where he studied archaeology, anthropology, and geology, setting the stage for a lifelong passion for earth sciences.

At the young age of 16, Jackie began his remarkable career with the United States Department of Agriculture, following in his father’s footsteps. He worked as a summer intern with the Soil Conservation Service and went on to serve multiple counties as a dedicated soil conservationist. His journey culminated with the United States Forest Service in Land Between the Lakes, where he continued his unwavering commitment to the environment he held dear.

Jackie’s interests were as diverse as his expertise. He cherished the beauty of the Smoky Mountains, found solace in the art of fly-fishing, and possessed a keen eye for arrowhead hunting. He had an ear for classic rock, a heart for St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and a fascination for antiques. Above all, Jackie treasured the company of friends and was forever eager to expand his knowledge of the earth sciences.

A devoted member of the Cadiz Masonic Lodge #121, Jackie leaves behind a legacy of love and learning. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Newby Franklin of Cadiz; two sons, Corey (Jessica) Franklin of Lawrenceburg, KY, and Caleb Franklin (Rebecca Clark) of Murray, KY; and a cherished grandson, Leland Franklin.

We will gather at Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. to remember and celebrate Jackie’s life. Following this, graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. in East End Cemetery, Main Street in Cadiz, with Doug Taylor and Bill Stallons delivering heartfelt eulogies.

In the embrace of this farewell, we find solace in knowing that Jackie’s love for the earth, his family, and his friends will forever remain in our hearts. He may be gone from our sight, but his memory will continue to inspire us to explore, learn, and love with the same zest for life that he embodied.
