Linda S. Spear Death, Obituary – We are deeply honored to serve the family of Linda S. Spear during this difficult time. Linda, a vibrant soul, passed away on August 26, 2023, at the age of 79 in Haubstadt, IN. Her journey began on February 7, 1944, in Owensville, IN, born to the late Hearl and Lillie Phillips. She proudly graduated from Owensville High School in 1962 and later married Richard “Dick” Spear on August 21, 1963.
Linda’s warmth extended to her professional life, where she served as an administrative assistant for over two decades at Phillip Mowry and Schultheis Insurance Group. Beyond her career, Linda reveled in life’s simple pleasures. She embraced the thrill of casino visits, the beauty of flower gardening, and the solace of a good book. Thursday lunches with cherished cousins and friends brought joy to her week, as did her leisurely walks around Owensville.
Family was the heartbeat of Linda’s world. She attended her grandchildren’s sporting events with pride, sharing in their triumphs and offering unwavering support. She showcased her love through the art of cooking and baking, creating delectable treats that brought smiles to her family’s faces. Poker games at family cookouts with her siblings were moments of shared laughter and camaraderie she cherished.
Linda’s memory is a testament to her deep connections. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Dick Spear, and several siblings. Yet, her legacy lives on in her daughters, Kristy (Larry) York and Jami (Ryan) Allen, her grandchildren Zackary (Emily) York, Jordan (Chase Peacock) York, and Ty Allen, along with her great-grandchildren Weston Peacock and Graham York.
We are humbled to assist the family in paying tribute to Linda’s life. Visitation will be held on August 30, 2023, from 2-6pm at Shinnyville Hill, followed by a funeral service at 6pm. A resting place at Maumee Cemetery will be her final destination.
