Patricia Ann Jones Obituary, Hailing From Huntsville Has Passed Away At Age 75
Patricia Ann Jones Death, Obituary – It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Patricia Ann Jones of Huntsville, aged 75. She peacefully left us on August 28, 2023, at Hospice Family Care in Huntsville. Born on December 12, 1947, in Marion County to William (Bill) Ashbury and Nava Flora Swinney Jones, Patricia spent her early years in Hamilton, Alabama, surrounded by her loving siblings: Harold Jones, Viola Hollandsworth, Theo Jones, Jenell Cantrell, Dellree Whitehead, and Billy Wayne Jones. She was also close to many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends within her community.
Patricia’s journey included a degree in education from the University of North Alabama, followed by service in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. After her military service, she remained in the army reserves. Deeply passionate about education, Patricia became a teacher in Birmingham, dedicating herself to ensuring all children had the opportunity to learn. Later, she earned her master’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In her career, she transitioned into the field of computer science, retiring from Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville at the remarkable age of 71.
Known for her strong-willed nature and occasional stubbornness, Patricia’s love for her family knew no bounds. Though she didn’t have children of her own, she showered her eighteen nieces and nephews with affection. She eagerly embraced the role of great aunt as well, cherishing moments with her expanding family. Patricia’s legacy will forever be defined by the love and care she bestowed upon her loved ones.
Facing her own passing with strength and grace, Patricia’s spirit was ready to reunite with her Lord and the family members who had preceded her. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who cherished her, yet her memory will endure.
Patricia is survived by her sisters, Mary Jenell Cantrell and Dellree Whitehead, her brother-in-law Adia Hollingsworth, sister-in-law Dora Jones, sister-in-law Norma Pearce, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings Harold, Theo, and Billy Wayne Jones, and Viola Hollandsworth.
A funeral service to honor Patricia’s life will be held at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 2, 2023, with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM and the service at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery on Highway 42. Bro. Gregory Cantrell will officiate the service as we remember and celebrate Patricia’s remarkable journey and enduring love.
