Patricio Esquibel Death, Obituary – It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of a beloved member of our community, Patricio (Pat) Esquibel Padilla, Sr., at the age of 71. A resident of Mountainair, New Mexico, Pat left us on August 28, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Pat was a devoted member of St. Alice Catholic Church and had a close-knit bond with his family. Growing up in Abo as the youngest of five brothers, he graduated from Mountainair High School in 1970. Following his graduation, Pat answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the US Army. He valiantly served in Vietnam, stationed in Korea during his military tenure.
Returning to Mountainair after his service, Pat embraced life as a father and instilled in his four children a love for horses and music. He often strummed his guitar with passion, a symbol of his love for both music and family. Pat’s dedication to his children was unwavering, teaching them strong values of hard work and resilience.
After retiring from the NM State Highway Department in 1991, Pat found happiness in his marriage to Graciela (Catano) Padilla in 2015. His zest for life, love for family, and commitment to his community remained steadfast throughout his years.
As we bid farewell to Pat, we remember the love and wisdom he shared. He was preceded in death by his parents Fidel & Patrocinia (Esquibel) Padilla and his Godson Michael Anthony Padilla. He is survived by his loving family members, including brothers, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins.
A private viewing for immediate family will be held at Noblin Funeral Home in Belen on September 7, 2023, followed by a viewing, rosary, and Mass at San Lorenzo Catholic Church in Abo, New Mexico on September 8, 2023.
