Robert Burns Obituary, Death – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Burns, affectionately known as Rob, of Castleford. He departed this world peacefully at home on August 27th, 2023, after displaying incredible strength and resilience in the face of illness. Rob was 74 years old at the time of his passing.

Rob was not only a beloved husband to Sandra but also a cherished father to his children, Robert, Beverley, and Andrew. His role as a dad was a source of pride and joy for him, and he leaves behind fond memories that will forever warm the hearts of his family. Beyond that, he was a special grandad and great grandad, a testament to his enduring love and the legacy he leaves behind.

His kindness and warmth extended further as he became a respected father-in-law, always welcoming and supportive. Rob was not just a family man; he was a dear brother, brother-in-law, and uncle to many, spreading his love and care throughout his extended family. His departure leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Friends and family will gather to pay their final respects at Pontefract Crematorium on Friday, September 15th, 2023, where a service will be held at 11:40 am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Rob’s memory to Marie Curie, a charity close to his heart, which provides vital support to individuals and families facing terminal illness.

Following the service, all attendees are warmly invited to join the family for refreshments at The Bootroom, located at the Wheldale Hotel on Wheldon Rd, Castleford, WF10 2SD. This gathering will provide an opportunity to remember Rob’s life, share stories, and support one another during this difficult time.
