Robert Rutherford Obituary, Death – Duane “Nooser” Rutherford, a beloved member of the Lebanon community, left this world on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was 83 years old at the time of his passing, and his legacy of love and family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.
Duane was born on August 19, 1935, in Lebanon, Illinois, to Rupert and Esther (Harms) Rutherford. He was a man who valued the bonds of family and the love that he shared with his loved ones. On July 16, 1955, he embarked on a journey of love and commitment as he married Ardel Ann Rutherford (Fix) in Yuma, Arizona. Their marriage was a testament to the enduring power of love, and they shared many cherished moments together until Ardel’s passing on August 1, 1991.
After Ardel’s passing, Duane’s heart found a new home when he married Marilyn C. Myers in Lebanon, Illinois, on February 14, 1998. Their love story was a beacon of hope and happiness, and they shared their lives together with love, laughter, and devotion. Marilyn survives him, carrying forward the love and memories they created together.
Duane was a devoted father to his children: Michael (Gayle) Rutherford, Julie (Kevin) Haas, and Robert (Kim) Rutherford. His love and guidance shaped their lives and left an indelible mark. His family expanded when he embraced his step-children: Elaine (Seth) Speiser and Bradley (Jennifer) Myers, fostering a sense of unity and love that transcended bloodlines.
The great-grandchildren brought joy and laughter into Duane’s life: Travis, Trevor, Trenton, & Trinity Rutherford, Caleb & Keelie Templeton, Shea & David Groves, Reagan & Bryce Haas, Ashlyn & Rhya Essenpreis, Evan Langan, Isla Rossetter, Kaydance & Carter Myers, Jemma Myers, and Brantley Speiser (Due 03-21-2019). These young souls were a source of happiness and hope, reminding Duane of the beauty of life.
Duane’s life was marked by love, and he was a central figure in the lives of those he touched. His passing was preceded by his parents, Rupert and Esther Rutherford, his first wife, Ardel Rutherford (Fix), and a great-grandson, Dalton Haas. He was also preceded in death by his Parents-In-Law Richard & Edna Fix and several beloved siblings and in-laws: Rupert-“Bud” (Virgina) Rutherford, Robert-“Red” Rutherford (USS Indianapolis-Disaster), John-“Muckle” (Lucy) Rutherford, Charles-“Fritz”(Charlene) Rutherford, Doris-“Sis”(Paul) Fabry, Peter Basara, Harold-“Bud” Neff, and Stan Hopfinger. His step-sons, Gary Myers and Thomas Myers, also preceded him in death.
