Ronald MacNeil Obituary, Death – On Friday, September 3, 1948, in Kamloops, British Columbia, Ronald MacNeil, a beloved man of unwavering character, passed away at the age of 88 after a prolonged illness. He was the last surviving member of the esteemed MacNeil family, born to the late Donald MacNeil and Annie MacInnis MacNeil in Livingstone’s Cove, Nova Scotia. Ronald was the youngest of thirteen cherished siblings.

In 1884, following the loss of his parents, Ronald made the bold decision to venture westward, and regrettably, he never had the chance to return to his cherished birthplace. He carried with him the spirit of Livingstone’s Cove wherever he went.

During the tumultuous times of World War I, Ronald answered his nation’s call and served with honor and dedication. His service to his country was only interrupted briefly by a two-year stint with the Vancouver police force. The majority of his active life, however, was devoted to the craft of carpentry, where he honed his skills with dedication and precision.

Ronald leaves behind a legacy that is treasured by numerous nieces and nephews, including John J. MacDonald of Morar and Stephen MacDonald of Livingstone’s Cove. Others who mourn his passing reside in Springhill, Nova Scotia, and in the United States. He held a special place in their hearts, a testament to his warm and enduring presence in their lives.

A man of profound Christian ideals, Ronald MacNeil counted many as his dear friends. His strong faith and unwavering commitment to the Catholic Church were a source of inspiration to all who knew him. In his final moments, he was fortified by the comforting last rites of his faith, which had been a cornerstone of his life.

In recognition of his service to his country, the Kamloops Legion branch accorded Ronald MacNeil a fitting military funeral, which was attended by a host of well-wishers who came to pay their respects. His final resting place is in the beautiful province of British Columbia.

Ronald MacNeil will forever be remembered for his integrity, his dedication, and his warm heart. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved family, and may his legacy continue to inspire generations to come.
