Steve Lockhart Death, Obituary – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Steve Lockhart, a beloved member of the Vidalia community. Born on October 4, 1948, in Port Arthur, Texas, Steve peacefully departed this world on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at his residence in Vidalia after a long illness. He was 74 years old.

Steve Lockhart was a man of honor and service, having dedicated his life to both his country and his community. He proudly served in the United States Navy, completing three tours of duty in Vietnam. After his military service, Steve embarked on a career at Plant Hatch, where he worked for twenty-seven years as a maintenance supervisor, retiring in 2011.

His commitment to service extended to his faith and community. Steve was a dedicated member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Vidalia, actively participating in various church committees and contributing to the children’s department. He also played a vital role in the construction of the youth building, leaving a lasting impact on the church community.

Steve had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed activities like yard work, drawing, painting, and golf. However, his greatest joy came from spending quality time with his beloved family.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of thirty-three years, Terri Henry Lockhart; his son, Christopher H. White; his mother-in-law, Peggy P. McGowan; his brother-in-law, Butch Henry and wife Jan; his sister-in-law, Ann Stokes and husband Eric; nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and special caregivers from Comfort Care Hospice.

A funeral service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held on Thursday, September 7th, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home. Mr. Randy McDuffie and Pastor Bobby Thompson will officiate, and Steve will be laid to rest at Harmony Baptist Cemetery in Soperton with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 PM until just prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church Building Fund at PO Box 160, Vidalia, GA 30475.

As we bid farewell to this honorable and compassionate man, let us remember the indelible mark he left on our hearts and community. Steve Lockhart’s memory will continue to inspire us to serve others with dedication and love.
