William Kinney was a cherished son, brother, nephew, and friend eager for spring baseball. He would play infield and outfield for Crieve Hall Reds. Will was Kinney, with dimples, long eyelashes, and an easy smile.

Kinney, known to friends as a lovely youngster with a “unflappable spirit,” was one of three 9-year-old Nashville victims and three adult staff members slain at The Covenant School on Monday morning. Tennessee residents have attended mourning vigils and anti-violence marches following the incident. Rachael Freitas, a family friend, created a GoFundMe campaign for Kinney. No funeral arrangements have been made. “Will had an unflappable spirit,” Freitas wrote. He was always friendly, kind when needed, quick to joke, and inclusive. He enjoyed his sisters, parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles, and liked hosting guests of all ages.
