Zofia Koscien Obituary, Death – Zofia Koscien, a resilient and beloved soul, passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on Sunday, August 27, 2023, surrounded by her adoring family at her home. Born in Poland, Zofia embarked on a journey that led her to the United States in her twenties. She initially found her home in Irvington, NJ, before settling in Kearny over four decades ago. A devout and committed member of the community, Zofia held a special place in her heart for St. Stanislaw Church in Irvington, NJ. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her with strength and compassion.
Zofia’s legacy as a caring and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jan Koscien. Zofia’s unwavering love and support were a constant source of comfort for her three children: Michalina “Michelle” Koscien-Smith and her husband Craig, Tadeusz Koscien, and Maria Koscien and her husband Bayron. She was a pillar of strength for her family, offering guidance, kindness, and a warm embrace whenever needed.
Zofia’s connections extended across continents, as she remained a loving sister to Danka and Krystyna, both residing in Poland. Her enduring bonds of family bridged the distance and brought them close in spirit. Her role as a cherished grandmother brought immeasurable joy to her life. Zofia’s presence lit up the lives of her grandchildren: Sebastian, Olivia, and Bayron, Jr. Her wisdom, stories, and nurturing affection will be eternally treasured by them.
A Funeral Mass to honor and remember Zofia’s life will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 10:30 am at St. Stanislaw Roman Catholic Church in Irvington, NJ. Following the Mass, Zofia will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ. A time of remembrance and reflection has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Shaw-Buyus Home for Services located at 138 Davis Ave at Bergen Avenue, Kearny, NJ 07032.
